Digital Style Guide:

High-Fidelity Prototype (Pillow pal App + physical product)
Delightful Design 429
Project Description:
For this project, I would like to create a physical companion in the form of a pillow phone charger that would connect to a sleep-tracking app. The product would connect to the in-app companion whose health and well-being are based on the user's sleep patterns. The character would change different colors based on the level of sleep (wake-up time and sleep time) which would be reflected in real-time through the physical companion. The goal is for the user to receive visual cues and reminders that will help create healthier sleeping habits. Along with the physical product I also want to design and mock up a high-fidelity prototype for a sleeping app. The goal of this element is to create delight and urge the user to make better sleeping habits for their well-being. The app will also be able to track the levels of sleep as well as other data related to sleep schedules and health.
Research Questions:
How might we promote better sleeping habits?
How might we mitigate distractions that lead to poor sleep?
How might we gently remind users about improving their sleep habits?

How might we gently remind users about improving their sleep habits?
Target Audience:
The target audience for this product would be young adults from the ages of 15-25 who are struggling with consistency in their sleep schedule.
Inspiration:
This project was heavily inspired by my sleep schedule (or lack thereof) and the combination of strategies that I have found helped improve my sleep. On the digital side, I was inspired by alarm apps that make it harder to turn off the alarm and collect real-time data about your sleep patterns and quality. I also looked at Tamagotchi’s for an extra interactive incentive that will be fun and keep users coming back. For the physical aspect of the project, I wanted to create a product that was engaging, cute, and functional. I took a lot of inspiration from cute bedside table lamps as well as the functionality of docking stations and combined it with the idea of covering the phone to reduce nighttime use (from research). Finally, the packaging was modeled after toy packaging with bright vibrant colors and large themed fonts.
